TCCT Newsletter: Winter 2008

Happy New Year! What a year it’s been! 2007 was busy and exciting. We launched our new On The Scene Program in preparation for our first On The Scene Production, namely James and the Giant Peach, but back to that in a moment. First, we must reflect on the great success of our last production of 2007, Disney’s Mulan Junior. This show marks a new achievement in quality of production! Congratulation go to all those who were involved in this wonderful show!

Student Director Wanted
Of course, more wonderful shows planned for 2008 (here’s the smooth segue back to James and the Giant Peach) ! As mentioned above, we will be producing James and the Giant Peach. As one of the goals of the On The Scene Program, we are seeking an all student cast and crew for the play. We will need student costumers, stage managers, set designers and a student director. All actor will also be involved in one war or another inputting together all that we need to mount the show. There will be experienced, adult mentors to guide you on the way but, as much as possible, this is to be a student run production (see the other side of this pamphlet for more details). Our most immediate need will be for a director. We are seeking a responsible and well organized student from 16 to 21 years of age who meets our On The Scene Level 3 requirements or who is currently enrolled in our Level 3 Class. Equivalent training from elsewhere is acceptable. The student directing program offered at West Senior High in Traverse City is one example of an alternative program that meets the requirement. There is a tuition fee of $120 for the continuation of training for the director but scholarships are available for exceptionally talented applicants.
